Major jewellery stores saw raids by officials of the Legal Metrology Department as part of statewide raids. Kalyan Jewellers, Jos Alukkas, Vaibhav and Lalitha Jewellery showrooms were among the stores that were raided as part of the inspections in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Nellore, and Tirupati.

Several gold ornaments and pieces of jewellery were seized and sent to the lab for weight and quality testing. Legal Metrology Commissioner Damodar (IPS) who is the supervisor on this case revealed that several violations were found during the inspection phase and some stores also sold ornaments without paper receipts.
