The 13th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ) was held at Bharat Diamond Bourse, BKC in Mumbai. The ceremony felicitated students who completed their degree in Bachelor of Arts (Gems and Jewellery) in collaboration with Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). Present at the occasion were chief guests K Srinivasan of Emerald Jewel Industry and Alkesh Shah of Gold Star Jewellery along with Anoop Mehta, President, Bharat Diamond Bourse, Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC and Sanjay Kothari, Chairman, GJNRF. The students were dressed in graduation robes and caps and were called by name to the stage where they were given their degree certificates.

Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC, addressed the students and said, “I see all your young faces and feel hopeful for the future of the gems and jewellery industry. In one of his speeches at a graduation ceremony at Stanford University, Tim Cook, CEO, Apple said that you should be ready to take the future. I advise all of you to be ready and ensure that you have a bright future.”

Alkesh Shah, Vice Chairman, Gold Star Jewellery said, “Congratulations to all students for your stupendous success. As you prepare to enter into the professional arena, you must reflect on core values like integrity and standing up for your beliefs. Be a tough professional, but a soft human being.”

K Srinivasan, Managing Director, Emerald Jewel Industry said, “Congratulations to all students who are graduating today. On my own graduation day I was very unsure of what I wanted to do next. But I can say this that if you are flexible and able to change according to the changing times, then you can all achieve wonders. One should be unique, creative and innovative, then sky is the limit.”
