Lavish interiors, rows of shiny countertops decked with jewels, state of the art fixtures and an entourage of staff ready to show the client some of the most dazzling jewellery pieces- these are some of elements that instantly come to mind when one pictures a jewellery showroom. However every showroom houses various elements that are a must have for retailers so as to provide an added layer of comfort to their clients. Indian Jeweller speaks to Rajendra Agarwal of Sona Chandis, Jatin Mor of Jatin Mor and Kailash Kabra of KK Jewels to find out the top five things that a jewellery showroom must have.. apart from jewellery of course!

Lights: One of the most important aspects about a showroom is the lighting. Since jewellery shines the most when light falls on it, it’s very important for the showroom to be well lit. Good lighting will enhance the beauty of not only the client but also allow the jewellery to look its best as it brings out the colour of coloured gemstones, gold and of course the sheen of diamonds.

Adequate Security: CCTV cameras are very important as they help strengthen the security and safety of goods. Valuable goods like jewellery require top notch security facilities as they are prone to theft. These cameras come in handy in case of any mishap and allow retailers to be stress free and concentrate on servicing clients in best possible way.

Bridal Props: As bridal jewellery is one of the leading jewellery categories in India, retailers can keep Indian dupattas at their bridal counters so that clients can drape them on themselves and try the jewellery as most of the times the young brides visit the store in western clothes. By providing this service, women are able to visualize their complete wedding look making it easier to finalize their purchases.

Weighing Scale: A specially dedicated jewellery weighing scale should be present in all jewellery showrooms as they will be used to measure the weight of an item. Details like gold weight, total weight of the piece can be quickly measured at the showroom with the help of a weighing scale.

iPad/Tablet: In this age of technology, no transaction can be complete without tablets and iPads. Sales staff can quickly make a note of client details with the help of tablets and also pull up past information like last purchase or billing details in case of recurring customers. Due to its compact size and user friendly interface, it is a valuable addition to the showroom.
