GJEPC Delegation Explores Latin America to Strengthen Trade Ties in Brazil, Colombia, and Panama

From May 21st to 29th, 2024, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organized a delegation visit to Latin America, targeting Brazil, Colombia, and Panama

Led by Vice Chairman Kirit Bhansali, the delegation aimed to explore new markets, enhance India’s export footprint, and forge stronger economic connections within the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region.

The delegation comprised prominent industry leaders including Anish Birawat, Managing Director of Chain N Chains Jewels Ltd.; Shailesh Sangani, Founder of Priority Jewels; Anilkumar B. Virani, Director of M/s Karp Impex Limited and Partner at M/s Ethereal Green Diamond LLP; and Yash Shah, Partner at The Lalit Gems Co. and President of The Dia Box Inc., a US subsidiary of The Lalit Gems Co.

Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the delegation. "Our recent visit to Latin America has highlighted the exceptional craftsmanship and diversity of India’s gem and jewellery sector. The engagements in Brazil, Colombia, and Panama have laid the groundwork for lasting partnerships. This tour has been a crucial step in expanding India’s presence in the global market, and we are excited about the promising future for cultural, commercial, and trade exchanges in these dynamic regions."

Vice Chairman Kirit Bhansali echoed this sentiment, stating, "Our interactions in Brazil, Colombia, and Panama have been incredibly fruitful. These countries, with their rich histories and economic potential, offer a strong basis for mutually beneficial partnerships. We deeply appreciate the warm hospitality and support from the people and retailers in these nations. The collaborative spirit and camaraderie experienced during this tour promise a prosperous future for the gem and jewellery sectors in both India and these Latin American countries."

In Brazil, the delegation engaged with key industry leaders to explore collaboration and market expansion opportunities. They participated in interactive meetings with the Indian Embassy and major retailers such as H Stern, Monte Cristo, Vivara, VQ Jewellery, and Villar Joias, facilitating valuable networking and partnership opportunities.

Through these strategic engagements, the GJEPC delegation aims to boost India’s gem and jewellery exports, build stronger economic ties, and create collaborative opportunities in Latin America. This initiative is expected to drive significant growth in India’s gem and jewellery sector, benefiting both India and the Latin American markets.
