The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Guatemala, has successfully launched a hybrid Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM) aimed at bolstering India's presence in the Central American gems and jewellery market. Held on June 24th, the event featured His Excellency Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Guatemala, delivering the welcome address, and Mr. Ramesh C. Khulbey, Head of Chancery and Second Secretary (Political, Press & Information) at the Embassy of India in Guatemala City, introducing Guatemalan panelists.
The BSM highlighted opportunities to strengthen economic ties between India and the region, particularly in the lucrative gems and jewellery sector. Key figures from the Guatemalan jewellery retail sector attended the event, alongside representatives from GJEPC including Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman; Mr. Shailesh Sangani, Member of the National Exhibitions Sub-committee; and Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director. Indian manufacturers and exporters also participated enthusiastically, showcasing their products and exploring new business prospects.
Mr. Vipul Shah expressed, "Today’s event signifies a significant milestone in enhancing trade relations with Central America. This hybrid Buyer-Seller Meet serves not only to showcase our offerings but also to understand your market dynamics, preferences, and requirements firsthand. It marks the beginning of what we envision as a prosperous and enduring partnership."
A notable highlight of the discussions was Guatemala's strategic location in the Northern Triangle, positioning it as a gateway for Indian gems and jewellery to enter the broader Central American market. This geographical advantage underscores the potential for increased trade and collaboration between Indian exporters and Guatemalan counterparts.
The successful execution of the Guatemala BSM underscores GJEPC’s commitment to expanding Indian gems and jewellery exports globally, leveraging strategic partnerships and fostering sustainable growth in international markets.
