India is set to bolster its gem and jewellery industry with the launch of the first-ever India Jewellery Park in Mumbai, a landmark project announced by Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC
The construction of India’s first-of-its-kind India Jewellery Park in Mumbai will commence this month, as confirmed by Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), during the inauguration of the 17th edition of the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Signature. The prestigious gem and jewellery trade show took place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC), NESCO, Goregaon East.
The first phase of India Jewellery Park Mumbai will include the A1, A2, and A3 buildings, covering an impressive 9 lakh square feet. The park, a major step forward for the industry, is expected to be operational by December 2026.
The grand inauguration of IIJS Signature in Goregaon, Mumbai, saw the presence of several prominent figures, including Chief Guest Ms. Amruta Fadnavis, a banker, singer, and social worker. Other distinguished guests included Shri R. Arulanandan, Director at the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Shri Deependra Singh Khuswaha, Development Commissioner (Industries), Government of Maharashtra, Shri Suvankar Sen, Executive Director of Senco Gold & Diamonds, and key members of the GJEPC, among others.
Ms. Amruta Fadnavis expressed her support for the growing gem and jewellery industry, noting that Maharashtra is committed to enhancing the sector. She emphasized that the gem and jewellery business is crucial to achieving India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Additionally, she praised the GJEPC’s efforts toward women empowerment and sustainable initiatives.
On the topic of exports, Mr. Vipul Shah mentioned optimism for 2025, driven by the expected return of American President Donald Trump to the White House and the resulting stability in the geopolitical landscape. He also highlighted GJEPC's efforts to explore new markets, including the upcoming exhibition in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for September 2025 in Jeddah.
Shri R. Arulanandan from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry highlighted the Ministry's collaboration with GJEPC to address industry concerns and pave the way for future growth. Shri Deependra Singh Khuswaha also spoke about Maharashtra's role as a hub for the gem and jewellery sector, emphasizing the state's efforts to boost employment and infrastructure. The India Jewellery Park in Navi Mumbai, with its Rs 50,000 crore investment, is expected to create over 1 lakh jobs and strengthen Maharashtra’s position in the industry.
The IIJS Signature 2025, organized by GJEPC, has expanded significantly with over 1,500 exhibitors spread across 3,000 stalls, covering 1.25 lakh square meters of exhibition space. The event is set to attract over 25,000 trade visitors, including buyers from 800+ Indian cities and more than 1,000 international visitors from 60+ countries.
The show will feature a wide range of product sections, including diamond, gemstone, and other studded jewellery, gold jewellery, machinery and technology, and exclusive categories such as lab-grown diamonds and high-end couture jewellery. Additionally, the India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo (IGJME) will run concurrently, showcasing the latest technology in jewellery manufacturing.
With its focus on business, innovation, and networking, IIJS Signature 2025 promises to be a landmark event in the global gem and jewellery trade.
