According to the data published by the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) India's cut and polished diamond exports increased to 6.7 percent to $770.49 million in April 2007.%%The country's cut and polished imports rose 45 percent to $209.17 million during the month. %%India's net polished exports (polished exports less imports) for April decreased 2.9 percent to $561.32 million. %%Rough diamond imports rose 5 percent to $805.52 million and exports rose 73 percent to $47.3 million. Net rough imports (rough imports minus exports) grew 2 percent to $758.22 million. %%The country's April net diamond account (net polished exports less net rough imports) grew 20 percent to negative $196.9 million. %%India's total gem and jewelry exports grew 10.8 percent to $1.23 billion in April, while total imports rose 16 percent to $1.17 billion. %%Gold jewelry exports continued to grow during the month rising 12 percent to $390.6 million. Gold bar imports rose 37 percent to $83.36 million. %%Among India's other jewelry categories, exports of colored gemstones grew 22 percent to $16.99 million, while pearl exports jumped 62 percent to $200,000. %% Non-gold jewelry declined 13 percent to $10.49 million during the month.
