AUSTRALIA based Kimberley Diamond Company said it sold a total of 36,685 carats of diamonds for $7.53 million, at an average value of $206 per carat, according to a press release. The parcel contained the first diamonds from the newly commissioned South Plant at Ellendale Pipe 4 and the existing East and West Plants at Pipe 9. Kimberley %% The company said it is currently holding in stock diamonds to the value of $5.81 million as part of the inventory build-up to a tender sale which will take place in Antwerp towards the end of January 2007. %% The South Plant at Ellendale Pipe 4 will achieve a throughput production of around 12,000 tonnes a day by the end of November 2006, it added. The East Plant at Pipe 9 is expected to run at 9,000 tonnes per day before Christmas. The final upgrade to 12,000 tonnes per day on this plant is currently scheduled to occur before June 2007.
