With a new name, a new venue and an extended profile, {{Watch & Jewellery Dubai - 2005}} ({{WJD}}) exceeded the success achieved by its predecessor International Jewellery Dubai claiming its position as the largest and most significant platform for the jewellery and watch industry in the Middle East and North Africa region. %% Held from December 5 to 9, WJD 2005 took up the Central and West halls of the Airport Expo Dubai. %% Over its ten editions International Jewellery Dubai evolved into the leading regional jewellery event. Now WJD further extended its profile to accommodate the burgeoning interest from high-end watch makers, further enhancing its product offerings. %% Watch & Jewellery Dubai will maintain its twin focus as a B2B show as well as business-to-consumer event but this year a more focused approach for the B2B market saw the creation of exclusive opening hours for trade and VIP visitors only. The exhibition provided the perfect platform for global and regional manufacturers wishing to meet buyers from the Gulf, North Africa, India and beyond. The target audience included industry professionals, trade buyers as well as private collectors with high disposable incomes and a taste for prestige jewellery and time pieces. %% While the Show was open to trade visitors and VIPs on December 5, 6 and 7, it opened for the trade and public on the evenings of December 8 and 9. %% There has been a marked increase in interest worldwide, which is reflected in the participation of many big names for the first time such as Diamonds Forever, Shree Laxmi and Real Gems. This year the traditional strong representations from Italy, Belgium, Turkey, India, Thailand and Hong Kong were matched by the debut of a pavilion from Brazil, organized by the IGBM the Brazilian Jewellery Association. The pavilion featured the colorful and flamboyant Latin style jewellery that has created waves in the industry. %% The Designer Piazza, featured 12 of the top designees from around the world selected for their creativity and originality. The Designer Piazza provided a showcase dedicated to collections that for their exclusive materials, sophisticated workmanship or technological innovation, offered customers distinctiveness and outstanding quality. %% Another big draw this year was the branded jewellery section. After its successful launch last year, this section continued to attract crowds with some of the biggest designer names in the world including {{Graff}}, {{Stefan Hafner}} and {{Pasquale Bruni}}. %% In addition a far greater number of Sightholders, diamond buyers and manufacturers attended the Show, yet another indication of the growing profile of the event worldwide. Among the big names represented was Aspeco, Eliaz and Supergems. %% Visitors to WJD could also take advantage of a series of seminars mainly targeted at the jewellery shop owners, aimed at offering hands-on-advice and practical guidelines on how to boost one's sales by gaining a competitive edge.%% On show at the five-day event were premier products reflecting the latest trends in the industry as well as exhibits that included cut and uncut gemstones, gold, platinum and silver jewellery, precious and semi-precious gems-set jewellery, bullion, antique jewellery, branded costume jewellery, branded watches and clocks, silverware, part-finished jewellery, packaging and display materials, manufacturing tools and machinery.
