The 700 American Gem Society members and guests gathered at the Sheraton in Seattle to attend the four-day American Gem Society™’s International Conclave, which concluded on April 12, 2008. They were invited to approximately 50 educational sessions by industry experts, breakfast and lunch presentations with high profile keynote speakers, networking, social events, following entertainment. A strong Ben Bridge Jeweler contingent of 64 Ben Bridge Jeweler associates attended the event. %% A insight into branding, approachability, corporate culture and psychology for the jewellery industry was imparted by speakers; Martin Lindstrom, sponsored by Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company; Scott Ginsberg, sponsored by Sarin Technologies; Malcolm Gladwell, sponsored by Hearts On Fire®; and Ross Shafer. An educational seminar; Custom Sales Training: Measured Results was delivered by Ruth Batson, Executive Director and CEO of the American Gem Society, during the Opening Session Breakfast on April 10, 2008. %% Entertainment elements were the Vogue Fashion Show and Supplier Showcase Reception, showcasing fine jewellery supplied by American Gem Society Supplier members. Social responsibility by the jewellery industry was reflected as Jewelers for Children and the Make-A-Wish Foundation combine, granted the one thousandth wish - a trip to Paris. Also, charitable donations and contributions of Society members raised over $75,000 at the Conclave. %% The prestigious Robert M. Shipley Award Luncheon, and the festive President’s Gala were notable networking occasions during the Conclave. Also, 75 of the 294 American Gem Society titleholders and members earning Society designations were recognised during the Society’s annual Titleholder Luncheon on April 10, 2008. New President of the American Gem Society International Board of Directors – Mark Moeller, CEO of R.F. Moeller Jeweler, assumed the role of President of the International Board of Directors during the Society’s Membership Breakfast on April 12, 2008. Al Woodill, former Executive Director of the American Gem Society and once a Shipley Award winner, was present at the event. Dates for Conclave 2009, have been released, scheduled for Chicago, between April 1 – 4, 2009.
