The Dubai gem and jewellery industry is presenting itself in a Dubai Pavilion, at the forthcoming JCK New Delhi 2008. Participants from the UAE would include the Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC) and private exhibitors - International Diamond Laboratories, Yasyan, Embellage, Deepu Jewellers and Shantilal Jewellers. It is the first time that the country would be host to the Middle East market. %% The Pavilion will be symbolic of the mutual interest India and Dubai have in each other’s markets, as well as to establish the importance of the Dubai’s diamond and gem industry. With a significant 43 per cent growth in exports, Dubai has emerged as the largest exporter to India. India, in 2007, exported an estimated $5.8 billion worth of semi-precious stones and precious metals. While Dubai exported precious and semi-precious stones and precious metals valued at $2.7 billion to India, last year. %% “It is a landmark event in the relationship between India and Dubai. As the official Dubai government export agency our role is to support Dubai-based Jewellery business and manufacturers to develop and diversify their overseas operations,” said Eng. Saed Al Awadi- CEO Dubai Export Development Corporation (Government of Dubai). The Gulf state rides on its expertise in growing into a global trade zone with hi-tech manufacturing centers and sensitivity to fashion trends in the jewellery segment. Observing the changing trends in the Indian jewellery market, Samit Bhatta, General Manager, Middle East & India International Diamond Laboratory, says, “The jewellery market is undergoing a gradual metamorphosis from a 'storehouse of value' to a fashion accessory bazaar. Indian consumers are also looking beyond gold, to diamonds and white metals. India has become an exciting jewellery market offering unlimited potential”. %% The Dubai Pavilion is organised by BUZ, an international jewellery consultancy firm and will deliver customised packages including business lounge, power breakfast and unique networking events. “This is the first time Dubai Pavilion is being showcased in India.
