The sixth edition of the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) was inaugurated today, on 20 December 2008, amidst a notable gathering of the Jaipur gem and jewellery trade. The occasion was inaugurated with prominent industry personalities on the dais including- Chief Guest and Chairman of GJEPC - Mr. Vasant Mehta, Mr. Yehuda Kasiff- Jewellery Designer from Israel, Mr. Rajiv Jain- Vice Chairman of GJEPC, Mr. Vimal Chand Ji Surana-Convener JJS , Mr. Ajay Kala- Jt. Secretary- JJS. %% As the organisers have decided, this edition of the event has been conceptualised to celebrate the Tanzanite stone. For two years, beginning from this event onwards, the theme of the event will be tanzanites. Taking the opportunity to address the important issue of economic slowdown, Mr. Vasant Mehta addressed the trade with the issues and promised to out the same before the government for its support. %% JJS has grown over the years and is remarked as one of the most successful B2B shows in India. This year it is hosting more than 300 booths at its venue - the Rajmahal Palace. The exhibit focus at the event is on latest designs, new settings of jewellery and trends in traditional heavy gold ornaments to light weight jewellery, white gold ornaments, ornaments with traditional and oriental look, fancy cut gemstones and Kundan Meena Jewellery. %% Apart from the exhibition aspect, the show is introducing a new business concept - jewellery bidding, with offerings of a wide spectrum of gems and jewellery, at attractive prices. Also lined up are the JJS – Gold Souk Awards, and a fashion show. The JJS-2008 is set to involve a wide gamut of activities for the trade and encourage dialogue between the industry professionals.
