TBZ to launch 7 more stores in 2013

TBZ reported 17 per cent rise in second quarter net profit at Rs 19 crore against Rs 16.3 crore (Q-o-Q) and plans to sell more diamond jewellery to boost margins.

Pankaj Mehta founder of Dimexon and Eurostar received the honour of Lifetime Achievement award for his outstanding contributions to the growth of the global diamond and jewellery trade, during the first Middle East-China Diamond & Jewellery Summit organised by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). Mr. Mehta accepted his honour at the hands of Varda Shine, MD, Diamond Trading Company (DTC) at a gala event held at the Atlantis Hotel, Palm Jumeirah, on the sidelines of the two-day summit. %% Ian White, Board Member, IDL, DMCC mentioned in praise of Mr. Mehta that “Pankaj is a self made man. He set up a diamond manufacturing business in 1966 and gained hands-on experience in all aspects of the trade. His leadership ensured that the company becomes a DTC Sightholder in 1976”. He went on to add “At the age of 16 Mr Pankaj Mehta ventured from Coimbatore in southern India to Mumbai in search of his future. Born to a successful retail jewellery family, his vision was to build a global diamond business, a business that included retail, wholesale, and manufacturing. Founder of Dimexon and Co-Founder of Eurostar. His vision, discipline, and dedication to learning have created The Diamond Company of the 21st Century”. %% The event also celebrated and honoured the contributions of those individuals who in the words of Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC, have “led the evolution of the markets in China and the Middle East transforming them into the most promising growth areas for the diamond and jewellery trade. Thanks to their inspiring leadership and innovation these two markets today are the powerhouses of the global jewellery trade.” These honours were conferred upon: late Mohammed Taher Abdullah, Founder, Damas; Vincent Chow, Group General Manager, Chow Sang Sang; Imam Altimbas, Founder, Altimbas; Robert Mouwad, Founder, Mouwad; Jamal Farsi, Founder, Farsi Jewellery; and Roberto Coin, Founder, Roberto Coin.
