Jaipur Jewellery Show Research & Development Centre in memory of late Rashmikant Durlabhji was inaugurated on March 14, 2009 at the premises of IIGJ Jaipur.%% Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) is an education institute established under the umbrella of Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to support the precious trade and train new professionals for this precious industry. after the great successes of IIGJ, Mumbai the Council decided to establish IIGJ , Jaipur. With the support of the industry the IIGJ Jaipur has been established and would be operational soon.%% Jaipur as the gemstones hub was left behind by other countries due to lack of technology. Looking to the need of time and make Jaipur again a leading centre of gemstones business, Jaipur Jewellery Show organizers took a step forward and provided financial support to develop this R & D centre at IIGJ Jaipur.%% The profits of the Jaipur Jewellery Show would be utilized for the betterment of Jaipur’s gemstone industry itself. In the beginning the process of heat treatment of Rubies and Sapphires would be introduced. According to available information this R&D centre would be able to start the process for the local traders in 3-4 months; thereafter Jaipur could compete with Thailand and generate business in our own city and locals can also make use of the rough which is mined in India.%% The JJS R&D centre was inaugurated by Vasant Mehta, Chairman GJEPC Mumbai. The event was graced by the leading jewellers of Jaipur city like Vivek Kala - President Jaipur Jewellers Association; Pramod Agarwal, Vimal Chand Surana - Chairman JJS; Rajiv Jain – Vice-Chairman GJEPC & IIGJ Jaipur; Vijay Chordia - Hon. Secretary IIGJ Jaipur, Navrattan Kothari - Chairman IIGJ Jaipur; Kishan Das Maheshwari and other notables.%% On this occasion Navrattan Kothari and Vasant Mehta urged the local jewellers to come forward and support the IIGJ Jaipur institute to develop further and become a major education hub in this region. This would be their return contribution to the trade and society from which they have earned in previous years.%% Rajneesh Bhandari explained to the gathering the facilities and equipments made available at the R&D centre and the benefits thereof.%%
