Veteran Shri. Kirtilal K. Doshi inaugurated the first India Diamond Colourstone Show, in Mumbai, on 4th August, 2009. The two-day event is a joint effort of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council and the Ministry of Commerce. %% Mr. Doshi has been associated with the Indian gemstone industry for 67 years and has been the brainchild behind introducing laser technology in the Indian diamond industry. It was befitting that the show be inaugurated by him and the GJEPC took the right step in inviting and honoring Mr. Doshi as chief guest for the first IDCS show. The doyen urged the industry to be creative and innovative in employing modern marketing. He added that IDCS is an opportunity for the gemstone industry to come closer and create a long lasting bond. %% Mr. Vasant Mehta, Chairman GJEPC said, “It was only last year that GJEPC had celebrated the 25th year of the IIJS. The show has come a long way and has developed many facets over the years and the council is proud to introduce yet another innovation – The India Diamond Colourstone Show.” %% Around 50 stalls and 43 exhibitors including companies, laboratories and service providers took part in the event. Expectations for a good business are high. The show will cater to the growing need of the cut and polished diamonds and precious colour stones trade worldwide and will be ideal platform for the B2B interaction.
