DMCC and Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council India launch inaugural Dubai Global Gem & Jewellery Fair in March

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has formally launched its School of Gemology in Surat and has completed a course on Polished Diamond Grading. The course is a short term practical oriented grading programme, involving intricacies of diamond grading, imparting learning on the diamond 4C’s, treatments, synthetics & pricing. It is a 5-day course with 30 hours lab sessions and lectures. The first course was attended by candidates from the gem and jewellery industry including diamond brokers, jewellers and diamontaires. It was conducted in English, Hindi and Gujarati , making it simpler for candidates to understand and relate to the subject. %% IGI hosted a graduation ceremony for its participants, honouring students with diplomas issued from IGI headquarters in Antwerp, Belgium and awarded by Mr. Rohit Mehta, President of Surat Diamond Association & Mr. Tushar Choksi, President of Surat Jewelers Association. %% Mr. Ramit Kapur, General Manager, IGI said on the occasion, - “IGI has been conducting courses and programmes for manufacturers and traders in Surat for over nine years now. With a School of Gemology in Surat which offers a wide range of courses, IGI plans to bring practical courses for the traders, manufacturers, jewellers and gem enthusiasts for the people of Gujarat.” %% IGI began conducting professional grading courses across India since 1999, training over 8700 students into professional grading as per International Standards.
