Pursuant to its efforts in spreading knowledge for the gem and jewellery industry, the International Gemological Institute (IGI) recently conducted a Polished Diamond Grading Course in Kochi, Kerala. The short term practical grading programme educated participants on intricacies of diamond grading, diamond 4C’s, treatments, synthetics and pricing, and included lab sessions and lectures. The hands on training helped expand the diamond knowledge of participants, to evaluate and identify diamonds as per international standards. %% The course was attended by jewellers and enthusiasts from Kerala. Mr. Ramit Kapur, General Manager, IGI said,” Kerala has been a Gold dominated market for years now. Courses on diamond evaluation give the industry a boost and confidence to introduce diamonds to end consumers. IGI is committed to do regular programmes in this state which has a tremendous potential.” %% IGI has been conducting professional grading courses across India since 1999, and has so far trained over 8700 students into professional grading as per international standards.
