A case of extortion of noted Indian jeweller Mahesh Notandas, led to three gangsters entering the Andheri (w) branch of the store and firing at its manager. The manager has endured serious injuries, reports say. Following a police complaint, the jeweller is given security cover, although he had previously refused the same last month despite receiving extortion calls in the past few months, reports say. %% The police are reported to be making progress in the case, and identify it as the act of a local gangster gang Ravi Pujari, which has been undertaking extortion of businessmen, reports say. This is the third firing incident reported against the gang in the western suburbs, which has drawn the attention of the Mumbai police commissioner Sanjeev Dayal, who visited the police station where Notandas’s complaint is filed. Efforts are on to bring the matter under control.
