The new development would help the company to reduce its cost to buy precious metals

At a press conference held at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) Complex at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, Anoop Mehta President of the BDB, announced that the BDB premises would be inaugurated on October 17th, by Minister of Commerce & Industry, Anand Sharma and Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan. %% Mehta also said that the BDB had now got increased FSI, which meant that it could take its present buildings of nine floors up to 20 floors. Future plans could include opening the bourse to the jewellery sector. %% Mehta presented to the media highlights of the Bourse complex. Spread over 20 acres of land in the heart of the new commercial centre of BKC, in Bandra, Mumbai, the Bourse is a complex containing eight towers with nine floors each. The total constructed are is two million sq ft, with two basement covering an area of one million sq ft. An area of 184,427 sq.ft. on the ground floor has been earmarked for various services. Of this, banks hsve been allocated 102,493 sq. ft.; restaurants will cover 25,600 sq. ft. and other services will occupy 56,334 sq. ft.%% The Complex will house about 2400 offices and have a trading floor spread over 6,200 sq. ft. Customs and clearing agents will occupy 12,000 sq. ft. and 6750 sq.ft. respectively. There are also three strongrooms in the complex. %% The BDB has provided for ample car parking space. It earmarked about 5,60,000 sq.ft. for landscaped gardens, which will be irrigated using recycled water.
