Good for gold, average for jewellery, slow for loose stones @ IIJS Signature

Japan’s polished diamond imports in November 2010 increased 12.6 percent (y-o-y) in value to reach $57.9 million. In terms of volume the imports reached 189,764 carats rising 10.5 percent (y-o-y). But the average value of imports dropped 1.9 percent to $ $305.09 per carat. %% Year-to-date, the average value of imports contracted 0.5 percent to $286.11 p/c. %% Polished imports from India stood at $24.5 million, being flat. From Belgium, polished imports dipped 16 percent to $10.4 million and from Israel imports rose 46.4 percent to $7 million. Japan’s imports from Hong Kong rose 94 percent to $6.3 million. %% Import of gold jewellery increased 43 percent to $75.5 million and that of platinum jewellery rose 62 percent to $41.2 million.
