%% There were magical moments galore at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai as Rosily Paul opened the show with “Reflection of Colours” Rosily showed a variety of necklaces starting with the lovely line of satin ribbons and interesting starburst, paisley, and jali circular pendants with gold diamonds and precious stones. %% Stunners of the show were the five strands of pearls with three black beaded tassels draped over the left shoulder, the white gold slim necklaces, the looped pendants, the lovely neckpiece of precious gems with flowering blossoms cascading down the front and the tiny diamond musical treble note pendant. Adding an innovative touch Rosily had an interesting zig zag trellis gold and stones square necklace while fabric was used cleverly as the background for a floral set in shades of lilac. The stylishly tied organza scarf with an imposing long pendant on one side was a flamboyant offering but the gold beaded necklace with dual draped flowers created an unconventional jewellery concept. %%
%% Vijay Golecha gave the audience a taste of pure royalty in traditional jewellery all the way, the pieces were created from the most opulent uncut rubies, emeralds, diamonds and giant Basra pearls. Size that boggled the mind was the main stay of every necklace, earrings, bracelets and pendants. So large and magnificent were the stones that they left the audience breathless with their beauty. The kundan and enamel work added to the grandeur of the amazing sets and added to the regal look. %% In the first section necklaces, earrings, armlets, wide cuffs, and a peacock shaped brooch with an enormous natural pearl centre evoked pure historic grandeur. For the second section which featured collections that will appeal to the fusion dresser, there was a mix of giant stones for the neck pieces; while tasselled rubies, pearls and emeralds earrings, Haath Phools and armlets gave an interesting option to the brides’ collection. %% The highlight of the show was the appearance of the three winners from the I Am She Miss India Contest 2011, organised by Sushmita Sen. Vasuki Sunkavalli Miss India Universe, Parul Duggal Miss India International and Tanvi Singla Miss Asia Pacific modelled the beautiful tiaras, crown and pearl drop and diamond earrings specially designed by Golecha’s Jewels. %%
%% Calling her collection “Parisian Couture” Divya Ahuja for Johra Jewels recreated the glamour of a sophisticated night in Paris with her ultra sensuous and gorgeous jewellery. With diamonds as the basis of her collection, Divya splashed the designs with the most amazing giant pearls, rubies and emeralds. %% The stunning pieces included the rigid heart shaped necklace with a matching kada, the long triangular emerald necklace, the imposing neckpiece which glided down the neck and the moulded gold diamond piece. Adding to the French story were the lacy tubular earrings, the wide hoops ornate with diamonds, the giant tear drop earrings and the artistic geometric entry which circled around the model’s neck. The triple collar choker with emeralds was another breathtaking entry along with the multi triangle version. %% Walking down the ramp to end the show was the latest hot Bollywood favourite, Zarine Khan in a black gown decked in a giant lacy choker, earrings, rings and bracelet all topped with show stopping rubies.
%% IGI showcased not one or two but four designers’ jewellery - The beautiful creative collections comprising four pieces each by the designers presented at show proved that the training given by the IGI was not only creative but had a solid foundation. %% Himali Dholakiya’s love for colour and precious metal was seen in her stunning collection called “Floraison” crafted by Apranj which was so fragile and sheer in its beauty that it matched the lace saris worn by the models. The jewellery collection called “Khushboo” created by Hetal Baxi was crafted by Shubhani Motiwala and revealed her love for “larger than life”, pieces which was reflected in her work as she played with varied forms and designs. The collection created by Nidhi Chaudhary and executed by Razwada Jewellers was an exercise in creative designing and style. Titled “Ecstasy the Royal Collection” the jewellery featured stunning white gold slender ropes with floral motifs teamed with lace cuffs, flowing choker cum collars glittering with diamonds and pearls and imposing sets of amazing grandeur. Inspired by nature and the beauty around her Natasha Chandiramani’s collection was far from ordinary but spoke a language of opulence and beauty. Calling her collection “Rangrez” executed by Emerald Jewellery the designer used the peacock motif in an unconventional manner for pendants and necklaces where at times it formed the centre of a firm ornate piece or glided down the shoulder and nestled between the collar bones. %% Speaking about IGI’s participation, Tehmasp Printer, Managing Director, IGI, said, “We are very happy and proud to have sponsored a fashion show at IIJw. It gives a solid platform to our outstanding students who learn at IGI the detailed designing aspects and are actually able to showcase their creations on an international platform as the IIJW reaches out worldwide. Very happy to take this talent across the nation and across the world.” %%
%% CVM Exports ended Day 2 with some unconventional pieces like the gold studded blouse with real uncut diamonds and a matching purse for formal wear. Bariki or very small as the collection was called, had the tiniest of pendants strung on almost invisible gold chains which were perfectly suited for that jet setting modern woman. The Signature collection of uncut diamonds was a traditional line featuring the traditional cummerbunds in gold, the glittering gold strands for contemporary Rani Haars, the triple gold, rubies and delicate intricately crafted neck piece; while gold beads edged necklaces, fluid gold, pearls, rubies meshed beautifully for ornaments and the ruby pronged version twinkled under the arc lights. %% For the last collection titled Moon, CVM Exports created magic with flat cut diamonds as they appeared for the five strands necklace. The gigantic pearl drops for earrings and the necklaces fitted perfectly into the Moon inspiration, while the fan shaped gold earrings and necklace duo told a creative story of pearls and flat cut diamonds. %% The single gold mesh hand bag was a striking entry on the ramp as it matched the jewellery with its intricate design. Show stopper Kajol Agarwal the star of the latest hit film Singham was a vision of elegance in a white gown with a thick flat cut diamonds and pearls necklace which ended in a striking oval pendant.
