I love our extraordinary design history, which made such a glorious feature of excess. And what I really like to do is to take the very best of history and traditions and invent my own for Mirari,” explained Mira, principal designer and founder of Mirari.%% This escapade that starts off with the capital city of Delhi with signature pieces created to honour Razia Sultan, a powerful and beautiful queen – the only woman who ruled in Moghul times, a queen raised to lead armies into battle on her elephant. The magnificent pieces are handcrafted with an assortment of rubies, emeralds and sapphires set with diamonds in 18 karat yellow gold. These pieces are like Razia, unconventional, bold and vibrant, yet are synonymous with Indian elegance and grace.%% The next collection is dedicated to Mumtaz Mahal. Empress Mumtaz Mahal is one of the great romantic figures of history. She embodied beauty grace and compassion and was the beloved and trusted royal companion to her husband Shah Jahan. The Mumtaz Collection, named in honour of Shah Jahan’s beautiful and beloved wife – his muse – who inspired the legacy of the Taj Mahal. The pieces are an array of embellished and spectacular adornment which makes you feel like a real empress.%% The final stop of this sojourn is exotic Egypt and the ethereal Cleopatra, whose beauty and charms were considered unsurpassed in the western world. Well-educated, multilingual and known for her powers of seduction, she has earned an enduring place in history and popular myth. These pieces are inspired by the lotus flower which is associated with rebirth. “The flower always looks so clean and pure even against the background of the dirty pond. “Mira Gulati, Mirari’s founder and principle designer says: “I wanted to recreate the look of that era, use a combination of lotus flower motifs with the modern French prong settings - I wanted to create elegant, bold, extraordinary pieces as our tribute to the bygone era.”
