Jewelers Association Jaipur organizers of Jewellers Association Show formally addressed the press today. It was the first occasion when committee of the upcoming show briefed the press on ongoing developments. Convener Nirmal Bardia, Media Coordinator, Sanjay Kala and Advisor M P Sharma shared the dais. %% Jewellers Association Show, better known as JAS is positioned as a Business and consumer show as well. It will be held from August 17-20, 2007 at Birla Auditorium, Jaipur. Spread in an area of 100000 sq ft, the show encompasses 134 booths showcasing gems and jewellery. According to the committee 120 booths have already been booked, allotment of which will be through lottery system to prevent any bias. %% While addressing the gathering Nirmal Bardia detailed the purpose of the show, “Jaipur Color stone industry has a major contribution in the total country’s export of color stones, and hence we need shows that can focus on the developments in this area. Also, the month of August is a good period for trading as Marriage and Festival season closely follows.” He further dismissed any competition with the existing show, “Jaipur has enough potential for multiple shows. JJS and JAS both are directed towards growth of the industry. There is no rivalry between the two.” %% The Jaipur gem & jewellery industry alone houses over 100000 artisans, manufacturers, importers, dealers & exporters. The city is traditionally known to be hub of color stones. Nevertheless, emerging international centers have taken away considerable share of business from the industry here. Optimistically, initiatives like shows & exhibitions will be able to replenish opportunities by attracting global buyers and exhibitors.
