Proceeds from the charity would got to ‘Basket loves Kids’; an initiative by the team to promote unity and solidarity in Antwerp, through youth basketball. The ‘Basket loves Kids’-day will be held on September 23 on Antwerp’s main shopping axis ‘Meir’. After the screening a painting by Satish Gujral, inspired by Gandhi My Father, was auctioned and bought by the Supergems Group.

Antwerp, Belgium, Thursday, August 30, 2007 – The Antwerp Diamond Giants basketball team organised a charity premiere screening of the movie Gandhi My Father, yesterday in Antwerp, at the insistence of the diamond community. More than 500 guests attended the screening at the Antwerp Metropolis movie theatre.

AWDC CEO Freddy J. Hanard said “The audience has been very generous. This once more underscores the solidarity within our multicultural diamond community. Thanks to their efforts, we have been able to donate more than 40.000 euros to a social project which has stolen our hearts.”
