Jaipur Jewellery Show continues to hold its position as one of the leading gems and jewellery shows in India and its 15th edition was no exception
Jaipur is home to many arts and artists. Jewellery designing, gemstone cutting and polishing are well-known arts exclusive to this historic city. The show was held from 21st December till 24th December at JECC in Sitapura, Jaipur.
The show registered the highest footfalls ever for four days touching a whopping 40,000 visitors. What is even more interesting is the fact that more than 70 per cent of the booths were designer with themes like – Egyptian, luxury, contemporary, marble and floral, among others. The organizers were also pleased with the large number of repeat exhibitors which proves that the event is a huge success. ‘Reflection of Royalty and Creativity’ being the theme, attracted wide attention with people picking up pieces of all sizes.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) inaugurated the 15th edition of Jaipur Jewellery Show, popularly known as ‘The December Show’. Guest of Honour for the inauguration ceremony was GJEPC Chairman Pramod Agrawal. The inaugural ceremony was graced by dignitaries like Vimal Chand Surana, Chairman of JJS, Rajiv Jain, Secretary of JJS, Nitin Khandelwal, Ajay Kala, spokesperson JJS and other JJS Committee members.
Also on the occasion, The JJS Show Guide and The JJDF Book titled – ‘A Jeweller’s Palette’ authored by Preeta Agarwal was unveiled by the JJS & JJDF Organizing committee.
He further announced that the Council has been successful in getting a sanction of Rs. 5.5 crores for a gem testing laboratory in Jaipur which will be the largest gems and JJS Show Guide being unveiled during the inaugural ceremony Rajiv Jain, Pramod Agrawal, Vimal Chand Surana and Ahmed Bin Sulayem at the lamp lighting ceremony jewellery laboratory in the country with state-of-the-art facilities.
During his speech, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC & Chairman of DDE said, “We are working to resolve the VAT that is applicable to gems and jewellery. We were the first country to join the Kimberley process in UAE. Today, Dubai is an active rough diamond hub with auctions happening every other day. This is the time for me to promote DMCC and I need the feedback and support of the people here. This is my second visit to Jaipur. I was very curious about the jewellery industry here. I’d like to visit Jaipur more often and I want to learn about the business here.â€
This year, the show had an increased number of exhibitors amounting to 825 as compared to 780 exhibitors in 2017. 250 trade visitors had confirmed their presence for the show and visitors from all major cities like Delhi, Agra, Chandigarh, among others were present at the show.
