7th JJS-IJ Jewellers’ Choice Design Awards
The glitzy and glamorous night came to an end with the most deserving jewellers walking away with the awards in their respective categories.
For the seventh consecutive year, IJ Awards celebrated design and talent in a glitzy gala night at the Crowne Plaza in Jaipur. Paying homage to the designs put forth by the Indian gem and jewellery industry in 2017, the dazzling ceremony honoured some of the most outstanding designs that have set unbelievable benchmarks for the coming year. The wonderful night brought together the who’s who of the gem and jewellery community under one roof.
With the ‘IJ Jewellers’ Choice Design Awards 2017’, Indian Jeweller has brought forth a brilliant opportunity for manufacturers, retailers and designers of India, to showcase their talent, creativity and products through a unique platform, which is accessible from any part of the country.
The Process
The competition required manufacturers, designers and retailers to submit their best designs across 22 product categories. The winning pieces from over 600 entries were reviewed and chosen from over 10,000 votes received from retailers across India and the Grand Jury Panel, in favour of their favorite designs. This activity alone made the awards a Jeweller’s Choice awards.
Voting was conducted through a website especially designed for the JJS-IJJCDA, ensuring transparency in judging. To make it easier for voting, the website was adaptable to desktop computers, iPads and Smartphones. Photographs were available for detailed viewing of the jewellery. This year’s Theme Based Jewellery of the Year – Mechanical – gave an opportunity to the participants to go an extra mile in their creativity. From ruby studded ring that could revolve 360 degrees to a dancing couple on a diamond studded ring, we saw it all!
The grand jury meet for the 7th edition of ‘JJS- IJ Jewellers’ Choice Design Awards’ was held at Sofitel in Mumbai. The distinguished jury evaluated 120 short-listed designs from across India. Each jury gave points on a scale of 1 to 5 on various factors for each jewellery piece like Innovation, Wear-ability, Uniqueness, Finishing and Designing. The grand Jury panel comprised of Nirupa Bhatt, Rajiv Jain, Anil Bharwani, Aftab Bandukwala, Minal Vazirani, Divya Dutt and Eshaa Amiin.
The Night of Victories
The awards night was a resounding success with a large turnout as manufacturers, retailers, designers, and who ’s who of gem and jewellery industry got together to honour and applaud the finest talents from across the country. The event started with a glamorous cocktail party where the peers were seen having fun and networking.
Ravi Dubey, TV actor, well-known for his roles in Khatron Ke Khiladi, Jamai Raja and Entertainment Ki Raat was the host for the evening. His witty one-liners in pure Hindi kept audience entertained throughout the ceremony. Noted Film Star Diya Mirza added pizzazz to the whole event. Amidst all dignitaries present at the event, some noteworthy names were Nitin Khandelwal, Chairman GJF; Nirmal Bardiya, President Jaipur Jewellery Association, Vimal Chand Surana, Convenor JJS; Nirupa Bhatt, Managing Director of GIA – India & Middle East., etc.
The Achievers of 2017
Renowned Jewellery companies like Narayan Jewellers, Emerald Jewel Industry, Khurana Jewellery House, Shobha Asar Jewellery, Raniwala, Dwarkadas Chandumal Jewellers, Jewel Saga, etc. participated in the design competition and added more grandeur and splendour with their sizzling creations. Industry influencers & industrial leaders who attended the function were seen appreciating the talent.
Prominent amongst the winners in Design categories were Paulomi Sanghavi who won the award in the Men’s Jewellery of the Year category. Narayan Jewellers, A Ramakant Chokshi Group won the award for Best Bridal Design Over Rs. 15,00,000. Theme Based Jewellery of the Year – Mechanical was won by Enshine, Best Necklace Design Over Rs. 10,00,000 was won by PN Gadgil Jewellers & Ghanasingh Be True. Accessory Jewellery of the year was won by Shobha Asar Jewellery. Other winners included Jewel Saga, Dwarkadas Chandumal Jewellers, Raniwala Jewellers, Emerald Jewel Industry, Gold Artism, NEETTI, Anand Shah Jewels and many more (Detailed list is at the bottom of this write up).
