The First Anniversary Celebrations of International Institute of Gemology began with high spirits as Chetan Kumar Mehta welcomed the chief guest Prasant Mehta, President, Jewellers Association Bengaluru or JAB, guest of honor Hetal Vakil Valia, Jewellery Designer & Consultant, Rahul Desai, Director at IIG and Sumesh Wadhera, MD at The Art of Jewellery. Many other dignitaries from the jewellery industry, staff and students had joined the event.

Firstly, on the occasion of 75^th Independence Day the tri-coloured Indian National Flag was hoisted by remembering the sacrifice of our great freedom fighters towards the nation. The ceremonial diya lighting was followed by speeches from the chief guest, guest of honour and dignitaries.

Students who had completed their courses in various streams such as jewellery design, gemology and diamond were invited to collect their convocation certificates. After the distribution of certificates, the moment all were awaiting arrived. The inaguration of the Jewellery Manufacturing Training Unit, was successfully given a green signal by cutting the ribbon and the guests was introduced to the machines, tools and equipments used in the process of jewellery making and its function.

In the second half, the students eagerly awaited for another guest of honour, Anushree, a prominent TV Anchor and actress from Kannada film industry. Institute head, Surya Prabhakar and Rahul Desai, Director of IIG, welcomed her with gret honour. She was very curious to know about the institute and what it taught. After vieweing a diamond through a microscope, sher was amazed to see the inclusions which followed an interesting interaction with students and staff that concluded the event on an auspicious note.
