Sanjay Kothari who completed his 4-year tenure hopes that the projects undertaken by the Board will continue under the chairmanship of Adil Kotwal
The Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) Board of Directors has elected Adil Kotwal, Managing Director of Creation Jewellery, as its new Chairman effective immediately. Kotwal succeeds Sanjay Kothari, who completed a four-year term as GJSCI Chairman after being elected to the position in October 2018.
During his tenure as GJSCI Chairman, Sanjay Kothari achieved several milestones:
JADE – Centre for Jewellery Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Excellence a project based on AI/ML.
IJES – India Jewellery Excellence Symposium, a project bringing experts from the world over on a single platform to share their expertise and know-how of jewellery making.
JOSH – Jewellery Occupational Skilling Hub a venture with industry partners based on demand-led training.
Design Connect – a program where leading industry partners seeking young talented candidates in the field of designing meet well qualified and aspiring youths from across the country.
Crafts Pavilion – An IIJS initiative which strives to promote languishing heritage jewellery artforms from being lost forever and providing opportunities to struggling artisans.
Kothari said, “During these 4 years in spite of the pandemic, for almost two years GJSCI could do its bit for the betterment of the industry, which has been due to the support and cooperation from the Board Members, industry stalwarts and above all by the Secretariat under the able leadership of ED & CEO, Rajeev Garg. I extend my gratitude to all.” Kothari hopes that the new Board under the chairmanship of Adil Kotwal will continue the projects undertaken by the earlier Board and may undertake other initiatives to create more jobs and enhance the skills of artisans.
