The All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC), the apex body representing the Indian gem and jewellery industry, has announced its new leadership for the term 2025-26
Mr. Rajesh Rokde has been elected as the new Chairman, while Mr. Avinash Gupta takes over as Vice Chairman. Their appointments were confirmed during the first Board Meeting of the Committee of Administration (COA) following the elections held in December 2024.
A stalwart in the jewellery industry, Mr. Rajesh Rokde of Rokde Jewellers, Nagpur, brings a legacy of over 100 years in jewellery craftsmanship. Representing the Large Retailers category in GJC, Mr. Rokde has been instrumental in addressing key industry concerns, including GST regulations, import duties, hallmarking, and policy advocacy. His leadership aims to drive innovation, strengthen the domestic market, and enhance global competitiveness for Indian jewellery.

Based in Hyderabad, Mr. Avinash Gupta of Mamraj Mussadilal Jewellers has been a significant contributor to GJC, particularly in legal and compliance matters, from 2016 to 2022. His efforts in shaping industry policies, including GST reforms and import duties, have been pivotal. Mr. Gupta has also represented GJC in international delegations to Shanghai, London, and Turkey to study gold exchanges and contribute to the establishment of the India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX).

Former Chairman, Mr. Saiyam Mehra, now assumes the role of Immediate Past Chairman. Reflecting on his tenure, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and extended his best wishes to the new leadership.
