India has officially taken on the role of Partner Country at INHORGENTA 2025, a significant milestone for the global gem and jewellery industry
The prestigious event, running from February 21 to 24, was inaugurated at the India Pavilion by Shatrughna Sinha, IFS, Consul General of India in Munich; Kirit Bhansali, Chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC); Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München; and Stefanie Maendlein, Exhibition Director of INHORGENTA.
Curated by GJEPC, the India Pavilion is showcasing a breathtaking collection of diamond jewellery, gold and platinum creations, fine jewellery, and loose gemstones. The exhibition highlights India’s expertise in blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design, providing global buyers with a diverse range of high-quality, artistic creations.
Speaking at the inauguration, Consul General Sinha underscored the significance of Indo-German trade relations. “Germany is one of India’s key trading partners in Europe, with strong exports in leather, auto components, chemicals, and electronics. In 2023, bilateral trade between India and Germany reached an impressive USD 33.33 billion. India’s role as the official Partner Country at INHORGENTA 2025 not only recognizes our growing influence in the global gem and jewellery industry but also strengthens the deep-rooted economic and cultural ties between our nations. This collaboration will pave the way for new business opportunities and mutual growth.”
GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali emphasized India’s evolving position in the industry, stating, “India has long been a trusted partner in the global jewellery market, known for its manufacturing excellence and emerging strength in technology and design. With a legacy of artistry, USD 32 billion in annual exports to key markets like the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and China, and a strong emphasis on skill development, innovation, and global standards, India is playing a crucial role in shaping the future of the industry. Our partnership with INHORGENTA will drive collaboration and elevate the global gem and jewellery sector.”
Bhansali further highlighted India’s active role in diamond promotion, noting, “India is working closely with global stakeholders such as De Beers and Chow Tai Fook to boost consumer demand in China. Additionally, GJEPC has partnered with De Beers to launch INDRA – the Indian Natural Diamond Retailer Alliance, a B2B campaign aimed at supporting jewellery retailers in India and strengthening diamond jewellery sales.”
Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München, welcomed India’s collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to have India as the Partner Country at INHORGENTA 2025. This partnership will further enhance trade relations between India and Germany while highlighting India’s rich heritage and exceptional craftsmanship in jewellery. Through our collaboration with GJEPC, we look forward to showcasing India’s brilliance at the India Pavilion and various special events throughout the exhibition.”
INHORGENTA 2025 serves as a dynamic platform for fostering international business connections, and India’s participation as the Partner Country reinforces its standing as a global leader in the gem and jewellery industry.
