P. N. Gadgil & Sons (PNGS), one of India’s oldest jewellers, has returned to its historic roots with the opening of a new showroom on Pune’s Laxmi Road. The move marks a significant milestone in the brand’s 193-year history, bringing it back to the location where it originally began operations
P. N. Gadgil & Sons (PNGS), one of India’s oldest jewellery brands, has reopened a showroom on Pune’s Laxmi Road, marking a return to the neighbourhood where the company was originally established nearly two centuries ago.
The new showroom, located at Saraswati Sadan in Kunte Chowk, was inaugurated on March 30, 2025. The event was attended by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Pune Mahanagar Sanghchalak Shri Ravindra Vanjarwadkar, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Shrikrishna Chitale of Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale, along with customers and local residents.
PNGS, founded in 1832, had previously operated on Laxmi Road before relocating over the years as it expanded. The reopening comes in response to longstanding requests from Pune residents, according to the company. “This is more than just a business decision,” said Aditya Modak, CFO and COO of PNGS. “Laxmi Road is a part of our history, and returning here is significant for us.”
The 5,000-square-foot showroom features a range of gold, diamond, and silver jewellery. The company stated that it would continue to focus on transparency and hallmark-certified products, values it says have been central to its brand over the years. PNGS now operates multiple showrooms across Maharashtra and other regions, and the Laxmi Road location adds to its existing presence in Pune.
