The Antwerp diamond industry is participating in a large group of 40 companies at the 23rd Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair from June 24-27, 2010. Hong Kong’s diamond market along with Mainland China account for around 25 percent of Antwerp’s polished diamond exports. %% Antwerp exported $250.8 million worth of polished goods to China in 2009 in addition to $1.85 billion worth of polished diamonds to Hong Kong, a major portion of which would eventually be sold on the Chinese market. Owing to a rise in Chinese consumers’ jewellery purchase, this share is likely to increase. %% In the first five months of 2010, Hong Kong imported 22.7 percent of Antwerp's polished diamonds in financial terms at $846.1 million, representing an increase of 36.2 percent on the same period in 2009. This year the Antwerp Diamond Pavilion will be located in two areas of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair has been reputed as Asia’s largest mid-year jewellery event. The Marketing Department of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) has launched a dedicated website for the event at www.antwerpdp-hk.com.
