Being the founder member of this great organisation, “It is a dream come true and I am extremely elated to be the chairman of GJF. I am extremely honoured and humbled at the same time. Over the years at GJF since March 19, 2005, the culture, environment and values at GJF has had a great influence on me. It is my earnest desire to give my best as Chairman and work towards progress and prosperity of the federation and jewellers at large, contentedly expresses Haresh Soni. Sharing his future plans for two years of his tenure in regards with the new responsibility as a Chairman, he states, “In the coming 2 years as Chairman, GJF I would like to give strategic focus in reaching out to the jewellers across India and work towards building inclusion and participation. I would like to work on organising the trade industry by strengthening its systems and uniting manufacturers, wholesalers, artisans and retailers. Also, I would like to provide industry people with a platform and create opportunities by organising trade fair, b2b shows, and educational programmes for grass root jewelers to ascertain business growth.” He further adds, “My goal as a chairman is to bring in progressive environment and unite the industry. At GJF our collective mission is 3P’s - To Promote, Protect and Progress. Promote the skill and art of the industry, provide business opportunities and be a medium for business growth, to act as shield and safeguard business interest of the Industry at large and to bring in a progressive environment for one and all.” Sharing his dream, he blissfully says, “My Dream as a Chairman is to strengthen GJF, its policies its, programmes and its charter so that it leads us towards building a better and safer tomorrow for all my fellow jewellers and industry people.” Highlighting his plan of action to achieve his goals, he explains, “We at GJF have an organised way of working; we have committees at regional and national level to work on legal, educational and business aspect which impacts the industry people. With the committees at regional level, reaching out becomes easy. I would like to empower these committees and also would like to strengthen the existing set of programmes such as Preferred Manufacturer of India, Trust Mark Programme, and Educational Programmes. I would also like to introduce projects such as Jewel of India (to showcase the finest artistic jewellery of India), Jewellers Identification Card to create a visibility for the cause of GJF.” Throwing some more light on his up-coming initiatives, he adds, “One of my dream project at GJF is to introduce the programme i.e. Jewel of India which intends to showcase the rich heritage of art and skill of our industry. Through this programme, we would like to recognize various spectacles of jewellery pieces prepared state wise. I would also like to introduce Trust Mark Programme and Jewellers Identification Programme for better visibility.” Sharing his expectations from his team and the members of the association, he says, “I want my team to be creative and proactive. I want them to function with ownership. It is said that talent wins matched but teamwork wins championships so I want each one of them to work with passion, dedication and team work. From the association members, I only want them to support activities of GJF.” %% Government regulations have been a constant problem for the industry; hence to tackle these issues, GJF has a legal committee in place to look after all the regulatory matters, “we have our own team of experts to interpret any regulation that impacts the industry. As GJF Chairman all I can say is that we will do every bit to protect and safeguard our industry,” he adds. Coming to the next fragile problem, which is related to the small-time jewellers, he says with utmost concern, “It is my earnest desire to bring in programmes to educate grass root level jewellers and bring them on common platform. One way to do it is to organise educational programmes on various topics for manufacturers and wholesalers to improve productivity and overall efficiency.” When quizzed about how he proposes to help promote trade, he confidently says, “Firstly, I would like to bring in uniformity on some key matters associated with the trade such as trade of gold. I would also like to encourage and motivate artisans and designers of the industry apart from strengthening existing promotional events such as Trade Fair, Exhibition, B2B Shows etc.” Wrapping up the conversation, discussing about the current scenario and predicting the future of jewellery industry in India, he states, “The current market trend is moving towards studded jewellery from plain gold jewellery. Colorstone, Diamond & Kundan polki jewellery has also seen rise in the current time. Overall shift is towards light weight jewellery. Coming to the future part, India has the rich heritage of art and skill especially when it comes to designing jewellery pieces, India is the best. So all that I can say is there is immense potential for the growth of Jewellery Industry.”%%
