With a market size estimate of Rs 3 lakh crore per annum, the sector is the second highest employer after the IT industry, employing roughly 2.5 million people. According to industry reports, it is also witnessing changes in consumer preferences worldwide. Consumers in India are youngsters who look for bespoke designs, seasonally trending styles, and indulge in omni-channel shopping experiences - buying digitally as well as from brick and mortar stores. The organised jewellers are able to fulfil their expectations better than unorganised players, especially with the implementation of progressive steps like the GST."
