Lalitha Jewellers, a popular jewellery chain in Tamil Nadu was robbed off of Rs 13 crore worth ornaments. Chairman, Kiran Kumar, while speaking to media, said that diamond, gold, and platinum jewellery were stolen by the masked men who entered the store by drilling a wall. The jewellery store was drilled from the backside which is adjacent to a government school.

The jewellery store's CCTV footage showed two masked men, carrying bags, wandering in the ground floor where the gold and the diamond articles are displayed. With the help of CCTV footages and other evidence that forensic experts and sniffer dogs have gathered, the police is hopeful of completing the investigation soon. Seven task force units have been deployed to nab the culprits. The police officials last night had also taken into custody five men from north India, who were staying at a local lodge in the city, in connection with this case.

The men reportedly tried to escape when police officers were questioning them. One person received injuries during his attempt to flee and is undergoing treatment at the Pudhukottai hospital while the other four have been taken into custody by the police for further questioning.
