Some 40 newly appointed Customs officers underwent specialised training in the "Diamond and Gems Identification Course" at the GJEPC Tardeo Office, facilitated by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The comprehensive training programme culminated in the presentation of certificates to all participating officers.
The training initiative attracted Customs officers holding various ranks including Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners of Customs, Superintendents of Customs, Inspectors of Customs, and Preventive Officers stationed at the Precious Cargo Customs Clearance Centre (PCCCC), Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (SIIB), and Courier Cell.
Commissioner of Customs, Harish Darnia, officiated the certificate presentation ceremony, underscoring the commitment to equip officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively handle diamond and gem-related matters in their day-to-day operations at PCCCC Customs and other ports.
The initiative demonstrates a commitment towards enhancing the skills and expertise of Customs officers, ensuring the day-to-day discharging of their duties in handling valuable commodities like diamonds and gems.
