In a significant development for the diamond industry, a high-profile delegation from De Beers, headed by Feriel Zerouki, Senior Vice President of Provenance, Ethics, and Industry Relations, visited the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) headquarters. The meeting, which took place today, also included Emma Wade Smith, Global Head of Public Policy and Public Affairs, and Amit Pratihari, Managing Director of De Beers Forevermark.
The De Beers team was warmly received by key officials of GJEPC, including Vipul Shah, Chairman; Ajesh Mehta, Convener of the Diamond Panel; Saunak Parikh, Co-Convener of the Diamond Panel; Anil Virani, Member of the Diamond Panel; and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director.
The discussions encompassed a range of pivotal topics affecting the industry, including compliance issues, rough diamond movement, the prevailing geopolitical landscape, regulatory hurdles, and potential areas for collaboration. Both parties exchanged views on navigating challenges and optimizing opportunities in the current global economic environment.
