In October 2024, India will host a series of specialized workshops on the identification of lab-grown diamonds, featuring Branko Deljanin, a renowned diamond expert from the Canadian Gemmological Laboratory (CGL).

The workshops, organized in collaboration with HRD Antwerp and Basil Labs, are scheduled for October 3 in Mumbai and October 9 in Hyderabad. Deljanin, a leading researcher in the diamond industry, will guide participants through both theoretical lectures and hands-on sessions on detecting and identifying lab-grown diamonds, including those created through HPHT (high-pressure, high-temperature) and CVD (chemical vapor deposition) processes.

Aimed at equipping attendees with advanced skills for distinguishing between natural and synthetic diamonds, the sessions will cover a variety of testing methods and the use of portable instruments. Key topics include fluorescence as a screening tool, cross-polarized filters for birefringence observation, and the application of portable spectrometers to identify different diamond types.
