The International Institute of Gemology (IIG) celebrates a double victory as its students excel at the prestigious EBDAA International Jewelry Design Competition
The International Institute of Gemology (IIG) celebrated a stellar double triumph at the prestigious EBDAA International Jewelry Design Competition, with two of its students earning accolades for their exceptional designs.
Mansi Periwal secured 1st Prize in the Stones of the Year category with her innovative creation, Parallel Truths, while Shabnam Bhojwani took 3rd Prize in the Trophy Design category for her imaginative pieces, The Seeds of Innovation and The Embodiment of Passion.
These accomplishments highlight IIG’s dedication to fostering global talent through its innovative curriculum and emphasis on practical learning.
Mansi’s award-winning design, Parallel Truths, reflects the delicate balance between family and career in the lives of working women. The dual-purpose piece, which serves as both earrings and brooches, features Alexandrite gemstones that shift hues, symbolizing the seamless transitions women make daily.
One earring, Social Truth, represents a woman’s nurturing role through heart-shaped arms, while the other, Intrinsic Truth, captures her professional aspirations with cosmic-inspired elements.
“This piece is deeply personal yet universal,” Mansi explained. “It’s about honoring the strength women show in balancing their Social and Intrinsic Truths. I am grateful to IIG for guiding me in bringing my vision to life.”
In the Trophy Design category, Shabnam Bhojwani impressed judges with two distinct concepts. Seeds of Innovation symbolizes creativity blossoming as individuals embrace their unique potential, while Embodiment of Passion celebrates individuality through an abstract human form, representing the spirit of designers.
“Great design exists in the space between imagination and authenticity,” Shabnam remarked. “Every detail in a piece reflects a personal perspective, and I’m proud to have shared mine.”
IIG CEO Rahul Desai praised the students, saying, “Mansi’s and Shabnam’s achievements showcase how our students are redefining jewellery design on a global stage. This is the result of passion, mentorship, and innovation coming together.”
COO and Head of Design Gunjan Sapra added, “Jewellery design is about crafting pieces that resonate emotionally. These wins are a testament to our students’ ability to tell profound stories through their creations.”
As IIG continues to produce industry-ready talent, it reinforces its position as a leader in jewellery education, with many of its students shortlisted for upcoming events like the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS).
The double victory at EBDAA reaffirms IIG’s commitment to nurturing world-class creativity and shaping the future of jewellery design.
