The Bengal Global Business Summit 2025, held on February 5 and 6, highlighted the immense potential of India's gems and jewellery sector, with a strong focus on the role West Bengal can play in its growth.

Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), emphasized that with the right policy framework and government support, India’s gem and jewellery sector can further solidify its position as a global leader, particularly in the manufacture of handcrafted plain gold jewellery.

Ray urged the state government to focus on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and ensure their seamless integration into the larger value chain of the gem and jewellery sector.
