IIG Strengthens Role as Education Partner at 14th National Jewellery Awards

The event, held at IIG’s Andheri campus in Mumbai, brought together students, mentors, and industry leaders to spotlight emerging talent and celebrate excellence in jewellery design and craftsmanship. IIG participated as the official education partner for the seventh consecutive year, underscoring its longstanding support for platforms that promote creative growth and technical skill among young professionals.

One of the key highlights was IIG’s scholarship initiative — a cumulative Rs.10 lakh grant awarded to the top 10 finalists of the “Student of the Year” category. The programme aims to recognise and support promising design talent at a formative stage of their careers.

Under the leadership of CEO and MD Rahul Desai, IIG has evolved into one of India’s prominent gemology and jewellery design institutes. With campuses across India and an expanding international student base, the institute has increasingly positioned itself as a bridge between traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation.

The NJA orientation at IIG included a detailed presentation of the latest award guidelines and participation criteria, delivered by Shristi Dagar from GJC. The session drew an enthusiastic response from students and faculty alike, signalling strong interest in upcoming competitions.

In recent years, IIG alumni have made notable appearances on the NJA stage, including Saloni Agarwal, who gained national recognition in 2018, and Rabiya Malik, the institute’s first international student to secure honours at NJA in 2021.

While the awards continue to serve as a prominent benchmark in India’s jewellery sector, IIG’s involvement goes beyond academic affiliation. The institute’s leadership sees its role as integral to shaping a future talent pipeline — one that aligns technical rigour with creative expression.

Founded in 1965, IIG continues to expand its educational footprint, combining heritage values with contemporary learning to support the evolving needs of the gem and jewellery industry.
