Extensive breadth of merchandise found at the show makes it popular with serious trade jewellery buyers and sellers.
Gem and jewellery exports from Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) accounted for Rs.4,652 crore ($1.16 billion) for the 2007-08 fiscal year, more than three fourths of India’s total jewellery exports. The SEZ witnessed an increase of 70% in its output from Rs.3,600 crore ($901.4 million) in 2006-07. The zone has about 101 operational units including software, electronics, textiles, besides jewellery.
