The 42nd edition of the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair is improvising the experience of trade events where business meetings are held in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The trade event is slated between 11 -15 September 2008 and the organisers are harping on the country’s natural landscape which they believe would be a refreshing backdrop to unwind unlike the prepared entertainment elements one gets to witness. The event organisers will design tours for the participants, which can also use this as an excuse for extended business networking amidst Thai mountains, beaches and islands of the South, century-old temples, glittering palaces and UNESCO world heritage sites. %% This year the organisers are predicting an attendance of atleast 30,000 professionals from 80 nations. The trade expected to be generated would be close to 10 billion baht, or over US$ 290 million. The BGJF is an attempt to promote the gem and jewellery trade of Thailand and is a coordinated efforts of the Department of Export Promotion and the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA). %% From the business perspective, the show will incorporate the uniquely-developed e-Appointment and OSP business facilitation tools, to allow improved business-matching facility at the venue. The OSP business-matching platform allows buyers and sellers to learn about the other’s profile, make a choice and finally meet at the venue. It presently has over 1,000 companies screened and certified, and are involved in 16 key categories of goods and services. The facility is available on the portal - www.ospgemsjewelry.com. %% TGJTA intends to hype the importance of the Middle East in today’s global gem and jewellery trade, for which, it has struck an association with Dubai Multi Commodity Centre (DMCC), to set up offices for Thai operators in Dubai and establishing sales outlets in DMCC's Gems Club later this year. DMCC is hosting a conference at this BGJF, for the Thai industry members to deliver an understanding of the jewel market in the Middle East. The forum will be led by experts who address key challenges facing the gem and jewellery industry. Focusing on providing finest facilities and services to all visitors, the organiser has chosen the Impact Challenger to expand this one floor one roof fair into 100,000 sq. mts.
