In September 2010, Israel noted a fall of 3 percent in the value of polished diamond exports to $449 million, but a mere 1 percent rise in the volume of the same. The average diamond price dipped 14 percent (y-o-y) to $833.13 per carat. In the said month, polished diamond imports rose 18 percent to $301.3 million. This has brought the country’s net polished exports (polished exports exceeding imports) declined 29 percent to $147.7 million. %% Rough diamond imports slid 13 percent to $217.1 million, but rough exports jumped 8 percent to $175.7 million. This culminated into 52 percent drop in the net rough imports (excess of imports over exports) valuing to $41.4 million. %% The country’s September net diamond account (measured as the extent of Israel’s total exports of polished and rough diamonds exceeding total imports) decreased 13 percent to $106.3 million.
