During the discussion, the GJEPC delegation drew attention to the personal carriage of Gems & Jewellery, which, it said, should be re-started from Jaipur airport
A delegation under the leadership of Nirmal Kumar Bardiya, Regional Chairman, Rajasthan, GJEPC, met Rajiv Arora, the new Chairman of Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation (RAJSICO), at his office on 17th February, 2022.
Arora is also the Director of Amrapali Jewels, a jewellery exporting company. Other members of the delegation were Vijay Kedia, Convener of Coloured Gemstones Panel, GJEPC; Ram Babu Gupta, Convener of Silver Jewellery Panel, GJEPC; and Mahendra Kumar Agrawal, Co-convener, Coloured Gemstones Panel, GJEPC.
Bardiya and Kedia are also directors on the board of IIGJ, Jaipur. The delegation congratulated Arora for taking up the post. Arora comes from the MSME background, and has a good idea of the problems being faced by the sector, and it is expected that his knowledge of the sector will help in the speedy resolution of the problems being faced by it.
RAJSICO is a Rajasthan Government undertaking, and it is the custodian of the Air Cargo Complex at Jaipur airport. It also runs the Inland Container Depot at Jodhpur, and the handicraft emporia at various places.
During the discussion, the GJEPC delegation drew attention to the personal carriage of Gems & Jewellery, which, it said, should be re-started from Jaipur airport -- it was stopped a few years back. This is important in view of the lifting of international flight restrictions, which may happen any time. It was also emphasised by the delegation that export from Jaipur airport should continue even after 31st March, 2022, when the lease of the Air Cargo Complex expires, and that RAJSICO should make necessary arrangements in advance. Arora assured the delegation that the issues raised are already in his consideration and that he will take necessary action on them soon.
