A first-of-its-kind museum showcasing the legacy of the Pink city, which has earned global fame for its fine gem cutting, polishing and jewellery craftsmanship, was inaugurated today in Jaipur.

The much-awaited inauguration ceremony was graced by Mahendra Singh Daga (President, Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce & Industry), Ashok Sancheti (President, IDCA, New York) and Dilip Lakhi (Philanthropist) as a guest of honour. Other dignitaries present at the inaugural function were Dr Rajnikant Shah (Coordinator), Rajiv Jain (Chairman, MGJF), Vijay Choradia (Secretary, MGJF).

Brain child of Dr Rajnikant Shah, this museum will share the story of each gemstone and educate the visitors about the world of gems and jewellery. Apart from Dr Shah, a group of enthusiastic NRI jewellers from New York and jewellers from Jaipur, too, were part of this endeavour, who had a strong desire to leave behind the footprints of forefathers who had developed trade in this city.

The museum has more than 50 sections to illustrate the journey of stone. Each section has been developed with a particular theme; e.g. rough and cut stones, special rough stones, gemstone specimen, rocks, ancient manufacturing tools etc. It has interesting segments such as gemmology maps, nature’s art gallery, colours of nature, mining and jewellery manufacturing process details.

A separate jewellery sale section has been provided to ensure visitors can get glimpses of latest trends in gems and jewellery from all over India. They can also purchase jewellery of their choice from this section.
