Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers Celebrates Two Consecutive Achievements

Bags two awards at 9th edition of National Jewellery Awards-2019 and makes waves at Lakmé Fashion Week For the 2nd consecutive time

South India’s leading jewellery brand, Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, a 120-year-old legacy brand, has bagged two awards at the 9th edition of the prestigious ‘National Jewellery Awards 2019’ for their excellent craftsmanship. As winners of the National Jewellery Awards (NJA) 2019, they were felicitated at a Grand Event in Mumbai on the February 15.

At the National Jewellery Awards - 2019, Dibyendu Manna and Swetha Shanmuhavel represented VBJ at the 9th edition of National Jewellery Award 2019 and bagged the Artisan Award and Student of the Year Award, respectively. The collection that won in the Artisan category, ‘Dance of Flowers’, is a unique piece of jewellery where at the front of the pendant, seven beautiful flowers are placed in seamless rotation around a royal blue enameled base. At the back is fine enamel work inspired from the intricacies of the jaali work. The materials used are 18k Yellow Gold and Diamonds.

The jury consisted of Bollywood’s celebrated jewellers, jewellery designers, socialists, fashion designers and B-Town’s celebrities. The winners were decided based on the finish of the jewellery piece. Dibyendu Manna’s work was shortlisted from the screening process. The second round of evaluation was based on the theme ‘Nature/Organic’ and ‘Romance’. Swetha Shanmuhavel of VBJ won the ‘Student of the year’ award and was offered a scholarship of Rs 1,00,000.

Speaking on the occasion, Jithendra Vummidi, managing partner of Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers said, "We are very happy to have participated and won two prestigious awards at the National Jewellery Awards 2019. Being one of the oldest business families in India with a legacy of 120 years in jewellery business, we are glad that we could begin the year on a positive note. Every jewellery piece from VBJ is still handcrafted in-house, using techniques that date back in time, keeping up with quality of the workmanship.”

Adding another feather to their cap, VBJ was a part of the Lakmé India Fashion week which took place recently. The Diamond Producers Association (DPA) in collaboration with Lakmé Fashion Week has curated The Real Cut, a unique platform for trusted and established jewellery manufacturers across India, whose forte is natural diamonds. The unique in-house designs of VBJ were exhibited at the revered fashion platform.
