IIGJ Mumbai Hosted Its 15th Convocation Ceremony

Rahul Narwekar, Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly was the Chief Guest of Honour

The Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery, Mumbai held its convocation ceremony for the 15th batch of graduates of the 3-year B.A. in Gems & Jewellery programme offered in collaboration with Mewar University. Shri Rahul Narwekar, Honourable Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented trophies and certificates to the graduates. Chairman of IIGJ Mumbai, Mr. Vasant Mehta, Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman, GJEPC India, Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Ex-Chairman, GJSCI and other distinguished guests were present at the event.

41 students successfully graduated from the 15th batch of B.A. Gems & Jewellery, Class of 2021. All the students are now either employed with prestigious jewellery companies or working on their own jewellery collections as entrepreneurs or have been absorbed into their family businesses.

Shri Rahul Narwekar said, “India is the youngest nation in the world with an average population of about 27 years. So, if we can translate this advantage of being the youngest nation into the largest skilled nation of youngsters, it will be an achievement which will be unparalleled. The Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery is contributing towards this goal by developing skills and producing young entrepreneurs. I am pleased to know that 10000 students have graduated from this institution over the past one decade. The institute is creating future leaders who will contribute immensely to the economy of the nation.”

Felicitating the students and congratulating them for their achievement, Chairman, Mr. Vasant Mehta said, “I am truly proud of the fact that IIGJ Mumbai’s B.A. students have done extremely well over the years. More than 400 students have graduated from IIGJ Mumbai so far. Out of which 40% run their own businesses and 60% are employed in the jewellery industry as designers, merchandisers, marketing personnel and in the production and product development departments. This speaks volumes for the quality of education received by students at IIGJ.”

.Bhansali said, “IIGJ students are well trained in every aspect of jewellery making and business. We are happy to have a glorious tradition of dedicated faculty and sincere students – a perfect combination for our trade. As GJEPC’s Vice Chairman, I promise to extend all the necessary support to IIGJ as and when it’s required.”

Degree certificates were given to all the successful graduates and the Chairman’s trophy awards were given to: Best Student of the Batch 2018 to 2021: Ms. Jaini Dedhia 1st Runner Up: Ms. Kalindi Darshetkar 2nd Runner Up: Ms. Namira Shaikh.
