The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) recently organized an Exporter Outreach Program in Kolkata to support new entrants and budding entrepreneurs in the industry.
New entrants and budding entrepreneurs in Kolkata received a boost in their business prospects after the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organised an Exporter Outreach Program on 13th May, 2023. The event aimed to train new and upcoming entrepreneurs on various topics of International Trade and Export procedures.
The event, chaired by Janab Ataur Rahman, IRS, Commissioner of Customs, Kolkata, was attended by several dignitaries, including Shri Bheem Ratan Rawat, IRS Jt. Commissioner of Customs, Kolkata, Smt Dona Ghosh, ITS, Jt. DGFT, Kolkata, Shri K. Selvakumar, GM, Air cargo, Kolkata, as well as representatives from Yes Bank, Federal Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and officials from West Bengal Govt.
During the event, Shri Pankaj Parekh, GJEPC Regional Chairman, expressed his gratitude to the government department for their continuous support towards smooth exports from the region. He also encouraged young entrepreneurs to come forward and start exporting through the e-Commerce platform. Additionally, Shri Parekh requested the Commissioner to start the operation of the hand carriage facility from ACC Kolkata to encourage budding exporters visiting overseas for exhibition purposes.
Smt Dona Ghosh, provided insights on the gems and jewellery sector and policy-related issues involved, focusing on the e-commerce business of gems and jewellery items. Meanwhile, Jb. Ataur Rahman assured the attendees that the issues faced by the exporter community would be looked into favourably as far as possible.
The event was attended by over 100 participants from the industry and concluded with a vote of thanks.
