The Hunger-Free World Campaign, spearheaded by the Malabar Group, is making a significant impact by ensuring daily meals for nearly 32,500 individuals in need.
This corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 2 of achieving Zero Hunger. Under the visionary leadership of Mr. M P Ahammed, the Chairman of Malabar Group, the campaign aims to reach the milestone of feeding one lakh (100,000) people daily. Currently operational in India and Africa, this campaign signifies the group's commitment to alleviating poverty and contributing to the global fight against hunger.
With statistics from various international agencies indicating that approximately 800 million people live in poverty worldwide, Mr. M P Ahammed emphasizes the Hunger-Free World Campaign as the group's dedicated contribution to this global challenge. By joining hands with various countries and agencies, Malabar Group strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by poverty.
To carry out this noble mission, the Malabar Group collaborates with "Thanal," an association renowned for its commitment to social service. State-of-the-art kitchens equipped with modern facilities have been established across different locations to prepare nutritious meals. Highly trained staff are appointed to ensure that the food is prepared with the utmost care and hygiene standards. A collaborative effort between volunteers from both Malabar and Thanal enables the distribution of food packages to individuals on the streets and those in need.
The food packages are primarily distributed at key locations such as railway stations, bus stands, and hospitals, ensuring accessibility for those in dire need. Notably, around 75% of the recipients receiving daily meals are consistent, while women and children also benefit significantly from this compassionate initiative. Additionally, Malabar volunteers actively engage in surveys to assess the poverty situation in the country, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the issue.
